04/09 - Sophie was rescued 4 weeks ago today

Today we have reached the 4 week mark. Every new day brings us further away from Sophie's horrible past. I brought Sophie to Wincor on Wednesday and she did great! She just laid down for everyone to pet her. Sophie is getting better on the leash too. She isn't nearly as frightened of it as she used to be. Sophie decided she wanted to play a game of chase that morning too. She saw me grab her leash and she playfully ran the other direction a few times and then decided to come to me. Just when Sophie was started to show interest in playing with Zoey, I'm going to have to restrict that for a little while. Zoey had a vet appointment on Wednesday and it turns out she tore her ACL in both knees!! I'm not even sure how it happened, but she is going to need surgery and will have a 6 week confinement period for recovery. I'm working on getting the money together for the surgery and will be taking her to Waco to her old vet. They quoted me half the price of what the vet in Austin quoted! Here are some pics of Zoey and Sophie waiting at the fence as I left for work the other morning. Please keep Sophie, and now Zoey too, in your prayers :)

04/6 - 3 1/2 Weeks after rescue

It was a busy weekend so I apologize for not posting sooner. Sophie is still doing great and is acting more and more like a dog should every day. She gets excited when I come home from work and has started to even run around the yard when I first get home. She only takes a few steps before she realizes what she's doing, but she's getting there :)I bought her a new collar over the weekend. Its a pretty light blue with a bright pink tag that has her name and my number on it. Sophie has a vet appointment scheduled with Animal Trustees of Austin on June 2nd. Its a discounted clinic so they rarely have openings and this is the soonest we could get her in. The good news is that I was quoted half the price of what the first vet quoted me. The cost of treatment shouldn't be more than $300!! And she has already started her pre-treatment (3 pills twice a day). Things are starting to fall into place for us. Sophie seems to have accepted this as her home and she is definitely happy about it. She almost played with Zoey the other day! She did a little play bow which made Zoey very excited and then made Sophie a little nervous....so close ha ha! Here are some recent pictures of her with her new collar and pics of her collar as well. Thanks for all the support :)

(Some of the pics have a blue tint to them, I didn't realize this option was selected on my phone before taking the pics...oops)
